This is going to be a one-page website for a while, until I can get everything cleaned up and reconnected properly, so you don't find the 2001-version of Dennis McMillan Publications website when you come here, as you have been doing for the past three months or so. . . . I will post updates weekly or bi-weekly, to let people know just what books have been recently published, what books are in the pipeline, and what backstock I still have available.

The most important item for the month of April 2009 is my limited first ed. of Michael Connelly's latest novel—a sequel, in real time (i.e., 13 years later), to The Poet, the best-selling novel he’s written, to date—The Scarecrow. This is an edition of 156 quarter-pigskin morocco copies, with hand-made Spanish-marbled paper-covered boards, signed and lettered (“A” through “ZZZZZZ”) by Mike, with a concomitant Brillianta cloth-bound state of 300 copies, signed and numbered by Mike. Both states of the book are slipcased. The quarter-morocco state is $250. and the Brillianta-cloth state is $125. I have a flat charge of $5. for a package with 1-3 books in it, to help out with shipping. There are still copies of each state available for purchase as of today, March 25, 2009, and you can reserve a copy or copies by emailing me at dennismcmillan@aol.com, or calling me at (520)-529-6636. If you want to send a check, my address is: 4460 N. Hacienda del Sol, Guest House, Tucson, AZ 85718. I can also accept VISA, Mastercard, and/or Discover Card, and the charge will show up on your statement as from “McMillan Publications.”

The second-most-important item of April 2009 is the fact that I published a truly great novel by Lono Waiwaiole, Dark Paradise, in late January, and that Lono himself visited Tucson, on March 13, for the first annual Tucson Festival of Books, Update: April 20, 2009—Dark Paradise is getting a starred-review in the May 1 special annual “Crime Fiction” issue of Booklist magazine, from Bill Ott, the publisher himself, so it isn't just my opinion that this novel is “killer,” and a must-read for any noir fan—which, from my personal experience, I can testify was much more interesting than any mystery convention I've ever attended, and also more interesting than any of the four L.A. Times’ Festival(s) of Books that I've attended: perhaps this was because several other of “my” writers were in attendence, as was the great Elmore Leonard, and all of their panels and interviews were the most interesting I've ever seen them participate in, culminating in a discussion between Gary Phillips (Monkology, published by and available from me, cloth, signed, $30.) and Kent Harrington (The Good Physician, published by and available from me, $35., [I've actually published a number of Kent’s novels, starting with the modern noir classic Día de los Muertos—unfortunately, long out of print—back in 1997) about whether a “progressive”-style modern political thriller of the type they write so well will ever make it into an airport, alongside Mr. Clancy and his armament lists. Anyway, all that aside, Lono signed several cases of Dark Paradise while he was here ($35. in the cloth state; $250. in the quarter-pigskin morocco state, limited to 104 copies, signed and lettered by the author), and also signed and dated a couple of cases as well, so for a short period of time, I’ll have signed, and signed & dated copies available. Hopefully I’ll have a link to a separate page with much more information on Dark Paradise available within the next week. For today, March 26, 2009, though, that’s it!
