The Biographers
Mark Dawidziak and Paul Bauer are the authors of a
biography of Tully, to be published sometime in 2002 by Dennis McMillan. Much of the
textual content of this site is drawn from the book's introduction.
Despite Jim Tully's wide popular appeal, his success
as a novelist and Hollywood columnist, his frequent appearance in the media, and his
remarkable storytelling, no biography has ever been written. This book seeks to
reintroduce Tully to his spiritual heirs and assigns.

Mark Dawidziak is
the television critic at the Cleveland Plain Dealer. A journalism graduate of George
Washington University, he has worked as a theater, film and TV critic for more than twenty
years. He is the author of a horror novel, "Grave Secrets" (1994), two produced
plays and five non-fiction books: "The Barter Theatre Story: Love Made Visible"
(1982), "The Columbo Phile: A Casebook" (1989), "Night Stalking"
(1991), "Mark My Words: Mark Twain On Writing" (1996) and "The Night
Stalker Companion: A 25th Anniversary Tribute" (1997). He has been a regular
contributor to such magazines as "Mystery Scene," "Cinefantastique,"
"Scarlet Street," "Commonwealth," "TV Guide" and
"Sci-Fi Universe." He lives with his wife, actress Sara Showman, and their
daughter, Rebecca Claire, in northeastern Ohio.
Paul Bauer is
owner and proprietor of Archer's Used and Rare Books in Kent, Ohio, which he founded in
1986. Prior to that, he studied bumblebee pollination. He is the author, with Frazier

Robinson's baseball career of 50 years ago. Read a New York Times
review of that book.
